Shri Buddhacharitha Mahakaviyaya 1 2 Sarga Bhadantha Asvaghoshakrutha

This text is an annotated edition of the two sections of the great poem written in Sanskrit on the life of Lord Buddha by Asvaghosha. The preface produced by Venerable Gammeddegoda Pumasara Thero brings to the reader a historical and literary analysis explanatory clarifications and comments. Then the Sanskrit verses’ of the Buddha Charitha Maha Kavya are presented followed by word for word paraphrase and the Sinhala translation. The interesting feature that can be identified in this text is the inclusion of English translation made by Pandith E.B. Cowell. Each verse is provided with Sinhala and English translations.
