Most books of the earliest stages of Sinhalese literature are translations and adaptations of Pali works. If not most books were influenced by certain Pali works. Dalada Siritha written during the Kurunegala period is based on a Pali work titled Dathavanshaya. The work deals with the history of the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha. It offers a comprehensive account of the rituals followed by the kings to pay reverence to the sacred relic. There is no direct reference as to who authored this book. However the stanzas attribute the authorship to a king. The Gunawardana edition offers annotations to simplify the stanzas of Dalada Siritha.
