Ashoka Shila Lekhana

Many Stone (rock) & Pillar inscriptions made by Emperor Dharmashoka of India are translated to Pali and Sinhala. Fourteen Rock inscription and Seven pillar inscriptions that are recognized to be the most important are included in this compendium. These inscriptions have been made by Emperor Dharmashoka to guide communities for better social behavior and living. These inscriptions are of two categories namely Edicts and Dhamma. Edicts are royal charters as to what people should do in order to maintained peace and happiness in the vast empire. Dhamma are offered to people to educate people on behavioral patterns to bring peace and happiness amongst themselves.
