Authored by M L de Silva Muhandiram Sirith Maldama is a manual of dos and don’ts for a righteous living from childhood. Written in simple lucid Sinhalese the book is clearly aimed at children. The poetry is written in a way that anyone can easily memorise. Written in 1895 the book offers various advices through small poems which shapes the conduct of children. The author M L de Silva was a teacher at Kirindivela Junior School of Sri Lanka. It encourages discipline good habits orderliness in work righteousness and good conduct. Venerable Dhammananda Thera’s edition contains simplified meanings in Sinhala for verses 62 in all.
