Devasoththra Mala

Seeking divine help from gods and deities is a common practice in Sri Lanka and other oriental countries. Since times immemorial Sri Lankans have made it a habit to seek refuge from deities and gods at times of woe. Over time the scholars and sages created verses in praise of gods. The Devastrothra Mala is a collection of stanzas and verses recited in reverence of gods. The stothra is the Sanskrit term for stanzas. The book is prepared for the common masses to recite the stanzas in times of trouble.
