This text brings to the reader the second sector (episode) of the Panchathanthra originally written in Sanskrit by pandit Vishree Sherman of ancient India comprised of five text namely Mitrabheda (dissension) Mitra Samprapthi (became acquainted) Kakolikaya Labda Pranasha and Apaseekshitha karaka. Pandith Vishree Sherman’s objective in presenting these five thanthras was to portray to the society lessons on social ethics through a legend – an allegory using wild beasts as main characters of these stories. This edition opens with an explanatory preface which provides the reader a good awareness on Sanskrit literature and its evaluation Sanskrit legend and allergy followed by the Sinhala translation of each story in an intelligible language.
