When the residents in the city called Vishala were plagued by the acts of inhumans the Buddha’s act of truth brought much benefit to them. That act of truth is known as Ratana Sutta even today. Whenever a Buddhist is affected by some plague they would recite the Ratana sutta in addition to a host of other suttas. These suttas mean immense protection for the Buddhists. For generations they have been used to reciting the Suttas in original Pali. However these suttas are best enjoyed when read with meanings. Every sutta offers a meaningful lesson to life in addition to the protection.
