Ravi Saha Madu

Sri Lanka’s education system had a major facelift with the introduction of free education policy. Everyone had free access to education. Although it earned ire of the elitist class of Sri Lanka the students of financially - restrained backgrounds were largely benefited from the free education policy. T S Hemakumara’s protagonists Ravi and Madu narrate the story of children benefited from the free education. Ravi hails from a rich family background whereas Madu hails from an average family background. However they both study in the same class. Written in a simple and interesting narrative style Hemakumara’s teenage novel is really a page turner.
