Sinhala Thupawansaya appreciated as a religious text written by Sakala Vidya Chakkrawarthi Pandith Parakrama in the Kurunegala era in Sri Lanka. This text re - edited by V.D.S. Gunawardena was produced after going through a number of previous editions made by various scholars and the scripts written on ola - leaves. As Sinhala Thupawansaya records the history of Dagabes (Stupa/Pagoda) some scholars treat this as a minor chronicle. This is a historical record of ten (10) pagodas which consist of relics of Lord Gauthama Buddha. This edition of Sinhala Thupawansaya opens with a lengthy introductory preface with extensive explanations. At the end of the text a word by word paraphrase was produced per each page for the benefit of the readers specially advanced students and researchers.
