Uvasagadasao is an instrumental work found in Jainist literature. It contains the teachings of Niganthanataputta the founder of Jainism. In ten chapters the work relates the encounters and the teachings of Niganthanataputta. The book may come handy for anyone interested in Jainist literature though this alone does not provide a complete elaboration of the Jain Founder’s teachings. Like the Buddha’s teachings the Jain Founder’s teachings too evolved for centuries without being scripted. Uvasagadasao is the seventh book found in the Jainist literature. Most chapters bear a tad resemblance to the Buddhist suttas. This could be probably because the Buddha and Niganthanataputta are contemporaries.
